Grrrr, it itches, it itches! When you have itchy skin the temptation to scratch kills you! Learn how to control the scratching! Steps
- Find out what the irritation is.
- Keep the area uncovered by clothing as clothing scratches skin continuously.
- When you feel the need to scratch, put ice or cold water over the irritated area.
- Pat the area dry with a clean towel.
- If you feel the need to scratch again, don't think about it. Do other things that involve movement: sports, dancing, or anything else.
- If the need to scratch is overwhelming, scratch really hard for half a second.

- If you can, cover the irritated area with a band aid.
- If the itching persists, see a dermatologist.

- If your doctor said not to scratch, just don't do it. Use cold water or don't think about it, but don't use the half-a-second scratch method.
