Get off the Idea of Wanting to Try Drugs
|
Drugs can be harmful.
Most people consider drugs at some point or another in their lives. Some feel that it is wrong, but still feel tempted by social pressures or just internal interest. Steps
- Educate yourself. Some drugs are terrible for your health and others are fine, or only mildly bad for you. Read up on all substances you are interested in trying prior to making a decision.
- Stay away from people that you know do drugs. If you want to make sure that you do not do drugs, stay away from people who do. They will tell you how good it can be, and how it can expand your mind and help you see a new way of thinking, but this is not for everyone. Peer pressure and wanting to be part of a common activity can be powerful and compelling reasons to start doing drugs.
- Speak to an adult. If you are still at school, police-officers often come in and talk to you about it, and they will be more than happy to have a private talk if you feel tempted. Be sure to educate yourself, however, and not take what people have to say at face value. Do some research on your own and find out the truth before making a decision.
Tips
- Call FRANK on 0800 77 66 00 and talk it over anonymously. It's a free number, so it won't show up on your phone bills and your parents need never know.
- Erowid.org is a good resource for information, though there are countless resources online.
Warnings
- Some drugs are very harmful to your health, and can even kill you when used without extreme caution. Educate yourself as much as possible on the subject.
