My mom is on a trach ventilater with 35 o2 and pulse OX of 92 percent and respirations of 16 how long?
do you think it will take to get her off the vent. Be specific with your answer thanks

You don't give enough information to answer this accurately. I don't know her diagnosis, how long she has been on a trach, or whether she has any other complicating diagnoses. I would ask her doctor. Of course, unless you are on the list to be given information about her condition, he may not discuss it with you.

Stuart
Since you don't say WHY she's on a ventilator (broken ribs? stroke? asthma? cancer?) it's impossible to tell you how long she'll need the assist with her breathing.

Shouldn't her pulse ox be higher or is that the best they can get? You might want to ask about that.

You cant expect any one to give answer when we have no knowledge in tach ventilator, (unless we are doctors or nurses who specialise in this field of medicine). Let alone information about your mothers particular medical condition.

I think you need to have a good talk with your mothers doctors.

Good luck

Depends on why your mom is on a ventilator. Her O2 sats are within resonable range, as is her respirations. Her age, health and determination all factor in to her rocovery. This is a lenghty process, and it will take time to ween her off the ventilator and get her breathing on her own. God speed, hope all goes well!

Sounds like she is really showing some improvement from last time. Sats of 92% is a wee bit on the low side, but not bad at all. The Doctors need to order a blood gas on her so her PH, PaO2 and CO2 can be checked. They also need to get some parameters on her ( if she is not already trached ) to check how strong her respiratory muscles are. These things will be her determining factor of getting her off the ventilator. Hang in there and be strong, I will keep you both in my prayers. Keep letting us know how she is doing.
