Is it really true that you can pass asthma to a chihuahuas?
I'm 21 years old and I have chronicle asthma and I have heard that Chihuahuas help you get rid of your asthma by passing it on them and when this happens theydie from it?

You know iv heard this b4 my husbands grandfathers little dog did actually that....well more or less his grandfather always used to hack and when his grandfather passed we noticed that the dog started hacking as well like he took the sickness on himself. but the dog actually lived a really long life after the passing of his owner.

That is a crock of lard - Chihuahuas are naturally that way.

I was unaware that asthma is a contagious disease. That would be the only way that you could "pass" anything on to anyone, or any animal, is if it is a communicable disease or a contagious germ.

I would lean towards this being an old wives' tale, kind of like smoking helps cure asthma.

omg. wow. hell no.

that can't be true. but if you give it a shot and it works let me know because I have asthma too and buying 1 chihuahua or buying a life time supply of inhalers. I'll buy one of them fluffy rats in a heart beat. I wonder if my insurance would cover a chihuahua ? it would be funny asking...........

NO. Asthma is not contagious. This is a voodoo wives tail. If you want to get rid of asthma you most likely can (at least in the majority of cases). It takes diligence, batteries of tests and strictly adhering to an Allergist/Immunologist's recommendations without cheating at all. Find a really good one. we only have one group in the Central to Northern California area that I would recommend. The rest don't take the time to research all the possibilities to totally eliminate all the factors. Good Luck...
