Should i claim compensation from a car accident?
accident was not my fault car behind did not stop and ploughed into my 6 month old car 80((.
car will be fixed but i have a neck and back injury and pins and needles in my arms. hospital has said this will ease but might take up to 2 weeks to settle down and stop hurting.
thing is should i claims compensation ? it was not my fault but then should i contribute to this socity of claiming compensation for everything?

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!
As you state in your questions, it was an ACCIDENT. accidents happen, its crap when they do but thats life!
What would the compensation achieve for you? will the pins and needles go away? no. Your car will be fixed on the other parties insurace I assume so you dont have costs there either.
Compensation is not going to make anything better, will just line your pocket.

Sorry to rant at you, but I HATE the compo culture so much!

Hope you feel better soon. Pins and Needles is my most hated feeling in the world, so you have my sympathy!

Yes, find yourself a lawyer specialising in that sort of thing.

steff
i would not claim as i can not be bothered with it all. as you are undecided and have to post this out for advice, i don't really think that you should claim. im sick and tired of people trying to get something for nothing! we are more and more becoming Americans

Gary
Contact a good injury Solicitor, that works on a no win no fee basis. It is usually straight forward if you was hit from behind.

You don't seem desperate to start a lawsuit, so I say NO. As has already been said, it was an accident, and they happen. Unless you feel that you really have lost out, don't start suing people just because you think you'd win. the only people who'd benefit would be the lawyers - it would take up loads of your time (more than 2 weeks, anyway), and anything that contributes to the compensation culture is a bad thing. Do the other guy a favour and let it go... it'll make everyone's life easier.

Claim compensation for your hospital bills and your car , also claim some extra for your pain and suffering and loss of work and also since there is nerve involvement claim some extra for what might be residual long term effects. ( you can't really tell with neck and back and involvement with nerves (the pins and needles sensation ) if it will all come back 100 % or not until it has fully healed. To not claim compensation would not be a wise move...you don't need to be a martyr and accept suffering without compensation just because some people abuse the system. If you are using it to cover real damages , that's what it is there for in the first place.
Good Luck with your injuries.

yes yes yes. Hopefully you have paid for comprehensive insurance and you should be able to claim through them. I know a few people who had just a few days off work and got over £1000 for whiplash, and were paid within 3 months.
My own accident where I injured my knee took 5 years to sort out but I did get £70,000 so it was worth the wait.
