Remove a Splinter

Ouch! You have a wood splinter and need it to be taken out. Here is how.

Steps
  1. Locate splinter.
  2. Run warm water over area.
  3. Dry area thoroughly.
  4. Using a credit card, push against the end of the splinter furthest under the skin in a smooth 'scraping' motion.
  5. If necessary, grab some tweezers and pull out splinter.
  6. Wash area with soap and water.
  7. Clean up.

Tips
  • Make sure the splinter is sticking out of skin before you pull out with tweezers. If you need to you can gently rip the skin on one end of the splinter so you can grab it with the tweezers.
  • Use the tweezers that are pointy/sharp, not blunt ones like eyebrow tweezers.

Warnings
  • If you don't wash area with soap and water after taking out the splinter you could risk an infection.
