Soothe Tired Eyes and Wake Up

Ever woken up and felt like your eyes weighed 500 lbs? Use these tips to wake up easier.

Steps
  1. Turn off any harsh lights. It'll make it easier for your eyes to focus.
  2. Wash your face with cold water.
  3. Run cold water over a small towel big/small enough for your face. Squeeze it out completely and fold it accordian style.
  4. Relax on a bed or sofa. Lay the towel over your eyes, so it's covering both of them.
  5. Take it off after 2-7 minutes. Your eyes will feel loads better.
  6. Stretch to increase blood circulation and to ease any soreness or cramps.
  7. Listen to upbeat music that you enjoy.
  8. Exercise moderately to increase blood flow.
  9. Eat something with a little "zing" in it. (See tips section for details.)

Tips
  • Eating oranges or lemons, peppers (i.e.: in an omelet), etc. can help further stimulate the senses. You can also try eating more colorful foods, as they tend to be fresher, have more nutritional value, and taste better.
  • Color psychology can play a role in your morning routine as well. Dressing in orange increases metabolism but yellow can cause eye fatigue and make you more irritable.

Warnings
  • Caffeine and sugar may seem like a good quick fix, but in the long run, it dehydrates you, makes you more tired, and makes you more chemically dependent on this convenient "quick fix."
