Insert Eyedrops if You Are Visually Impaired
|
If you are blind or visually impaired, inserting eyedrops can be a difficult task. Here is how to do it without any aids or someone doing it for you. (Yes you can do it with only your hands)! Steps
- With the lid of the eyedrop off, bring it up to whichever eye you need to insert it into. (If you need to do both eyes, repeat this for the other eye when done with the firsst one).
- Hold your eye open with one finger, preferrably your index finger.
- Keeping the eye open, bring the actual dropper part of the eyedrop bottle up to the opened eye.
- You may brush your eyelashes which is okay. Keep the hand holding the bottle steady as you squeeze a drop of the medication into your eye.
Tips
- You may miss at first and that is okay. Just try it again.
- If you are having extreme difficulties with doing it on your own and you need help, try using the autodropper.
Warnings
- Make sure you don't poke yourself with the dropper part of the bottle because you may damage the eye or it just may hurt a lot!
- Don't get too frustrated or you will just mess up a lot.
