Comfort a Sore and Itchy Eye

Ever have one of thoes days where your eyes just dont stop itching? Where all you want to do it reach up there and scratch away? Well we all have and its annoyingly repetetive in the life times of all people. so here we go with some tips and tricks to keep your eyes feeling good.

Steps
  1. Irritated eyes are such a pain #Don't rub your eyes ... this will just make them even more irritated!
  2. Firstly try washing them out with cool water ... hopefully whatever made them itchy in the first place will wash out. This should give some relief.
  3. Irritated eyes can be caused from a handful of things. Only a competent eye doctor (not your Internist or Physician, no offense, they are just not trained in ocular disease) can diagnose. Likely possibilities include dry eye syndrome, ocular allergies, foreign body caught in the eye, allergic reaction to contact lenses or many other disorders.
  4. Products like Visine are not always the solution, no pun intended. Sometimes these medications can be counter benefitial. In fact many eye doctors do not prescribe Visine because it only masks the underlying problem. So beware.
  5. If they still hurt after washing them out, and there is little or no improvement in your symptoms, then go see an eye doctor. There are great medications that can help releave most irrated eyes, but first your eyes need to be looked at under a microscope by a competent doctor.

Tips
  • If your problem is allergic, prescription eye medications usually fix 90% of the problem. But be very careful when putting in eye drops, so they do not touch your lashes, this could contaminate the bottle.
  • Do not rub your eyes. This only makes them worse.
  • Stay away from self medication with over the counter or worse from-the-cabinet drops.
  • Always visit an eye (not general practice) doctor before trying any prescription medications!!!

Warnings
  • Keep the eye solution away from your mouth! If it is swallowed, call the Poison Line or similar emergency hot line in your area if the box says to do so. Some eye drops are just a saline solution, the ingestion of which will probably not require medical intervention.
  • You could have a serious eye problem, so always get a persistent problem checked by a physician.
