Cure a Stye

Something as simple as a warm tea bag can get rid of that ugly stye.

Steps
  1. Boil some hot water.
  2. Put a teabag in a cup.
  3. Pour boiled water over the tea bag and let it steep.
  4. Let the tea bag cool down until it is easily handled.
  5. Place the tea bag on the eye with the stye.
  6. Enjoy your tea and let the teabag sit on the closed eye until you get sick of it.
  7. Repeat as necessary.

Tips
  • It's unclear if it matters whether you use black or herbal tea.
  • Epsom Salts may work as well.
  • You may also use aloe vera, mucopolysaccharides is present in the inner gel of the leaf. Apply to stye directly.
  • The idea is to give "Hot Fomentation". Heating a bit of cotton cloth on an iron does the same job, as the tea bag.
  • A hot compress will work as well as a tea bag.

Warnings
  • Never attempt to squeeze a stye, they are basically a pimple containing bacteria that will (in time) form a head and release the fluid themselves, the warmth of the teabag ecourages this to happen and the acid in the teabag helps dry out the area reducing redness and swelling.
  • Always wash your hands before and after, stye's are contagious and can be spread to other parts of the eye lid. Two styes are not better than one!
  • If the tea bag is too hot when applied to your eye, it may make things worse. Or, more accurately stated, if the tea bag is too hot when applied to your eye, it will burn you severely and make you wish that all you had was a stye.
  • Note: this is an unproven folk remedy. It is not guaranteed to work.
