Im getting my wisdom teeth pulled tomorrow. my dentist is doing it and im going to be awake. does it hurt?
has anyone ever been awake and had their dentist removed their wisdom teeth. tell me your experience. did it hurt?

Yes, I was awake during that. It doesn't hurt during, but just stay relaxed or your neck will be really stiff. They pull and pull. The weirdest part is watching the dentist and his nurse put on their clear masks and come at you with what look like pliers. At least that is how it was for me. Close your eyes if you need to and stay relaxed. It hurts after. Tylenol PM and Chamomile tea work absolute wonders. You'll be fine and healed from the whole ordeal before you know it.

I had all 4 of mine removed at once, and it didn't hurt at all at the time (during the surgery, I mean), but it started hurting about 4 or 5 hours after the surgery and hurt bad for about 2 days after.

Ouch! It's right up there with having a baby. I hope you get some kind of pain med. Mine hurt later on also because I got "dry socket". Ask the dentist about this condition. Good luck!

I just got my wisdom teeth pulled last friday, and i was awake for it as well. They said i would be out of it and not remember much, but i remember every second and ended up having a panic attack in the middle of it, though i thought it was an asthma attack. It didn't hurt, and i don't regret doing it that way now that its over. Do you have all 4? I did. My best friend got hers out Monday but she only had the top two and she was back at work Wednesday. She was put all the way out, and she was fine as well , but a little more nauseous. I am feeling pretty good by today, my right side still aches a little, but otherwise as long as i have my ibuprofen i am fine! don't sweat it, docs do this all the time and you will be fine. stock up on foods like cup of noodles and jello, and take your pills. the pain ones will make you sick if you don't eat so make sure you have something with them, and you'll be conked out for a couple days. have fun! good luck!

No. Not at all and I have had two of them taken out. You don't need them, and they can only cause problems later. Get them out now. I took aspirin.

i haven't had mine removed but I guess it looks worse than what it really is like. that's why I'm a chicken about having mine taken out. There's a lot of blood, pain, and the dentist has his whole mouth in your mouth, but if its really numb you should be ok. You'll just feel really strong pressure. After that take a lot of care!! and follow the instructions

I was awake when my wisdom teeth were pulled. The novacaine shot they gave me to numb the area hurt, but that's the same as if you have a novacaine shot to have work done on a cavity or something.
When they pulled the teeth, my mouth was numb from the novacaine and I did not feel ANYthing at all. Honestly, I asked the dentist "When will you pull the first one?" (I had 3 to be pulled) and he grinned at me and said, "I already did the first one." I honestly didn't even feel a sensation of spressure or anything at all - I didn't realize he had done it. The novacaine shot is totally worth the sting!

Afterwords, when the novacaine wears off of course your mouth is sore, but really I felt like I got waa-aay more sympathy and ice cream than I deserved for such a small amount of pain. Hope your experience is as good! Don't stress about it; if your dentist knows what he is doing you ought to do great.

?
No. You'll have novacaine, probably codeine too. I was eating pizza the same night mine came out.

i got all my wisdom teeth pulled last month. when i got it pulled i was fully awake. however, my dentist numbed my gums and started pulling them teeth. my top wisdom teeth were the easier ones to get out. my bottom ones were more difficult because it was half way out and sideways. so they had to cut my gum an drill my teeth and take it apart piece by piece. eventually he got it all out. so that's the good news.

as for the pain, your gums will be numb. there will be A LOT of pressure on your bottom wisdom teeth. there was a lot of pressure when my dentist was trying to take mine out.
it depends on how your wisdom teeth is positioned as well. but i think overall, no matter what position their in, you will feel pressure. if you're in pain during the process, tell your dentist. i'm sure he'll give you more numbing solution.

afterwards, they will stuff the area with gauze pads. i didn't really like the gauze pad part. it was gross. then, if needed..your dentist will prescribe meds for the pain. they will also tell or give you a pamphlet on how to take care of gums that will be in the healing process.

listen to your ipod or mp3 player while he's pulling your teeth out. that's what i did. good luck.
