Get Rid of Mosquitoes

a Mosquito Mosquitoes are pests that can spread disease and itchy discomfort. Getting rid of them in a small area is easier than you might think; here are some pointers to assist your battle against them.

Steps
  1. For personal mosquito repelling:
  2. Do not use chemical based repellents. University studies are coming out daily proving that many of these "safe" repellents cause cancer, tumors and more. Go with all natural.
  3. Catnip oil is 10 times more effective than DEET and completely safe on humans. Buy catnip oil and make a spray or purchase a repellents with catnip oil as an ingredient.
  4. Be active to escape the mosquitoes. If you are outside and these mosquitoes won't stop annoying you, run or make something that makes you sweat. Believe it or not, mosquitoes are much less likely to come near you if you are sweating.
  5. Apply Bounce sheets to your legs and arms.
  6. Burn a citronella candle or torch. The smoke in the air will help keep away bugs. Citronella devices like torches or incense, work best in an enclosed area where the smell does not blow away.
  7. For repelling mosquitoes in a wider area:
  8. Dump or flush out any stagnant water sources in your yard. Examples of mosquito breeding grounds include old tires, driveway puddles, unfiltered fish ponds, empty flowerpots, and any item that can hold water for more than a few days at a time.
  9. Purchase a mosquito trap if you can find one.
  10. Hang sealed-shut clear-plastic bags of water around the area you wish to keep insect free. This will also repel a number of other flying pests.
  11. Go out to your local grocery, pharmacy, sporting goods, and hardware store and look for anti-mosquito products.
  12. Rub dryer sheets all over exposed skin. Believe it or not this works!

Tips
  • There are DEET alternatives including physical barriers and herbal preparations. DEET has been around for a very very long time and has been researched extensively, and it seems to be a fairly safe chemical.
  • After spending time in mosquito-filled areas, many people discover that they are no longer bothered by the mosquitoes or are no longer bitten. You may consider waiting to see if this happens to you.
  • If you are in an area with particularly bad mosquitoes, consider purchasing mosquito netting.

Warnings
  • Sometimes mosquitoes develop an immunity to a certain brand of bug spray.
