Avoid Insect Bites While Sleeping

Are you waking up with insect bites on your body? May be the thought of being bitten by insects at night is enough to worry you? Here are steps to take if you want to prevent this, regardless of if you're currently suffering from insect bites or not.

Steps

Tips
  • Metal frames are fairly cheap compared to wooden ones. Avoid buying a bed frame from the same place when buying your mattress. Some mattress retailers may try to take advantage of a a cheap mattress sale by charging you more for accessories such as the bed frame. Look for a universal bed frame that fits the size bed you have.
  • Although many of these steps help to discourage spiders from entering your bed, they don't completely stop them. A more effective means would be to keep your house pest-free by using natural or chemical methods.
  • If you're currently suffering from insect bites while you sleep, visit a dermatologist and/or entomologist to determine what type of insects are biting you. This will also help in case your problem isn't related to insect bites. Sometimes an allergic reaction to the type of bedding you use may result in hives that are similar in appearance to small insect bites.
  • If using a mosquito net, be sure to tuck it into your mattress or underneath your cot or sleeping bag, and do not sleep against it. Insects can bite through the net.

Warnings
  • If you do have any comforters or blankets treated with chemicals, do not have them make direct contact with your skin when sleeping. Although some of these chemicals are mild and non-toxic, it is best to avoid the possibility of an allergic reaction.
