i have had 2 root canals and i felt nothing, and that was during and after the treatment.

i would say the strangest feeling will be when they scrape the inside off you tooth, you can feel it, but it its not painful.

dont believe what people say when they talk about there root canals being sooo painful, because odds are those people probs got it 20 or so years ago when the technology was not there.

I just recently had one done. It hurts, but not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Sometimes the pain will get worse at points but just think happy thoughts and have your Advil or Orajel right by your side and before you know it the pains gone. Just sure you tell the dentist if he didn't numb you enough because you know you be in for worse pain if you dont.

Pain will depend. I'd get anesthesia if they give you the option (which they usually do for a root canal). Then at least you won't be aware of what's going on.

I had one done on a molar with a large cavity and it was somewhat painful for a few days after, but it wasn't nearly as bad as having my wisdom teeth pulled.

Good luck. Bring someone with you to drive you home if you can.

Totally depends on the dentist. Mine was AWESOME....thank God.....b/c I stressing, big time. Also....don't keep your eyes closed....it makes you focus WAY TOO much on what is going on in your mouth. Look at the ceiling, posters on the wall, anything. If you start feeling any pain.....FEEL FREE to say something. They should give you more novacaine. My metabolism burns right through it and I always have to get two shots when I have a procedure done. And the pain afterwards isn't nearly as bad as people say. Get a pain pill Rx and you'll be good in 2 days. Good luck!

The worst part, for me anyway, is getting the Novocaine shot. After that, the drilling is numbed. When the numbness is wearing away, it gets a little annoying too. It really isn't all that bad.

okay im a 10 year old girl and i had a root canal and it did not hurt one single bit

its not that bad.. Just stay away from non liquid and cold stuff for awhile.... Be sure they give you some pain meds you will proally need about 20 or so. Vicodin ES works well. Normal Vicodin is good also..

I hardly never recommend pain meds but after a procedure they are a lifesaver.

Take 800mg of ibuprofen (if you aren't allergic) an hour BEFORE your appointment. This will help you during and immediately after your procedure.

Inquire of the Dentist about any pre-medication you require. If you ever had any type of heart condition you will need an antibiotic. If you are stressed about the procedure the Dr. any prescribe an anti-anxiety medication like Valium

It is nothing to worry about. There will be some mild tenderness, but no significant pain You will be back to normal eating habits in about 2 days. After about 3 days you will kick yourself for worrying about it.

Don't worry about it. They numb you really well and the worst part about it is how weird your face feels for like 3 hours afterwards from the novacaine. Keep a napkin with you because you WILL be drooling on yourself!

WHAT YOU REALLY NEED IS A CROWN TO PROTECT YOUR TOOTH FROM FRACTURE AND POSSIBLE FUTURE EXTRACTION.
THE DISCOMFORT OF A ROOT CANAL IS NOT THAT BAD. THE TOOTH WILL BE NUMBED UP SO YOU'LL FEEL NO PAIN :-)
