Research today is really breaking new ground with foods that might in fact prevent cancer. Shape magazine has great articles this month supporting that so here are a rundown of just a few foods etc.

- Kale, brussels sprouts, and broccoli may cut your risk by up to 50%
- Vitamin A may slow the growth of cancer cells
- Low levels of vitamin D have been linked to an increased risk in everything from heart disease to depression (menopausal women with higher intakes of vitamin D had roughly 30% lower breast cancer risk - fish is best source of vitamin D)
- Green tea may reduce risk up to 30%
- Lignans are plant estrogens that are much weaker than the estrogen your body produces yet may block estrogen's effect to cause tumors. Flax seed and sesame seeds have the highest amounts, but whole grains and whole grain cereal, pasta, bread, pumpkin seeds, soybeans and brocolli are also good sources.
