Cope with an Ulcer

Ulcers are caused by too much acid or if your digestive tract is damaged. Here is how you can cope with having an ulcer. Always see your doctor for professional health advice on treatment appropriate to your needs.

Steps
  1. Avoid spicy foods that can cause a fire in your stomach and cause pain, such as pizza.
  2. Don't smoke, drink alcohol and avoid caffeine.
  3. Cut down the stress levels. This can be done by exercising, breathing slowly and deeply, thinking pleasant thoughts and talking to yourself and practicing relaxation techniques such as yoga.
  4. Let out your frustrations if it is necessary.
  5. Don't take iron supplements.
  6. Eat foods in moderation.
  7. Avoid anti-inflammatory drugs such as Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) and Ibuprofen (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug).

Warnings
  • If you see signs that your ulcer is worsening such as vomiting blood, feeling cold and clammy, sudden pains and weight loss, and have difficulties swallowing, get help immediately.
