We all may laugh at the classic Preparation H commercials, but a hemorrhoid can happen to you -- at home, work, or a wedding.
Steps
- Never strain over a stool. Let excrement slowly creep into the toilet, tightening the anus slightly to reduce its width.
- Be careful when constipated and don't be afraid to use a laxative if necessary, especially a natural one.
- Wipe gently after using the bathroom as this can irritate the anal walls.
- Change your underwear frequently. Wearing the same underwear will increase the odds that you will incur a hemorrhoid.
- Wipe only with toilet paper to avoid irritation as well.
- If your feces are acidic (any burning sensation) then moisten a few squares of toilet paper and pat down the anus after you've wiped with dry toilet paper, then wipe with dry toilet paper once more.
