Getting contacts fitted.?
If I purchased my lenses online and they are too big, can an optometrist "shrink" the contact so that I can see better through them? They are "planos" (no prescription.)
Or are there methods of just doing it myself?
Additional Details
These are not prescription... Cosmetic use only. They only had a certain size and I don't even know what's the right size for me. These contacts were costly so is there any way to get them fitted without having to dish them out?

You probably ordered Freshlooks right? Those are usually really big for the eye and feel like they are suffocating. You do need a smaller size, but there's nothing you can do about that ones u've ordered. Try going to an optometrist next time instead so they can fit you properly.

No contact lenses can not be shrinked once they are soft. The size is made when it is a hard piece of plastic, once it is in your hands the only thing you can do is wear them. Its not like you can take out a pair of shears and cut them to fit your eye.
Even though they are plano, they are a medical device. The only thing you MIGHT be able to do is go to your doctor and ask if he/she would be willing to help you out or trade them for a different size. BUT, the doctor could decide not to help you if you dont have a up to date valid prescription on file. If they wrote the prescription for you(which I dont think they did or else they would fit) than they might be willing to work for you.
Good luck

Before you order contacts online, make sure that you have a copy of your prescription of your contact lenses before you place an order. These companies want the right fit for you and the same brand your optometrist recommended.

no. neither you nor the optometrist can make any changes to a soft, colored contact lens. its not possible

life is good
Whether your vision needs correction by prescription lenses or not, part of an eye exam for figuring out your contact prescription is for fitting the actual lenses. They do all sorts of measurements and find the best type of lens for you. Part of the numbers on a contact box are your prescription (correction) and part are the size!

You should go to an eye doctor and talk to them, perhaps they know of a way to help you.
