Leukemia? Need answers?
Alright, I just recently got news that one of my friends, one of my friends, was diagnosed yesterday with leukemia. He was one of my most trusted friends, and I was surprised to hear that he had leukemia. But fortunately, it was diagnosed early, so they're bringing him to St. Jude's in Tennessee. I hope he and his family stay strong and get through this fine. I'm pretty sure about this, but I want to confirm this.

Is leukemia treatable and curable if diagnosed early enough?

sarah w
treatable yes! When dealing with leukemia all things are possible doctors can't tell you that they can cure you 100% they can treat the disease and hope that the treatments will help..Just be there for your friend and his family. BTW St. Judes is a wonderful place they will take good care of him and his family.. It is great they caught it early that is a good sign.. I am sorry that you have to go through this, this is a rough road for anyone to travel my best friend died of cancer when she was 19 no she didn't have leukemia.. The best thing to do is stay positive and communicate with him...often. My prayers are with all of you involved..

your friend will undergo induction chemo followed by consolidation chemo and hopefully go into remission. possibility of having a stem cell transplant down the road, good luck

Yes, it can be. It's hard to predict without more specifics.

Leukemia is treatable...but there is not any cancer that is curable. Your friend and his family will go through a lot of trials and tribulations through this process. He needs you as his friend to stick by his side no matter what even when you don't think you can handle seeing him sick. Make sure that you always are there for him when he needs someone to make him laugh...or a shoulder for him to cry on. Visit him if he has to stay in the hospital...or sit with him when you can if he has to go through chemo. Always reassure him and his famliy that you are there for them.

There are no guarantees of cure, but it is almost certainly a treatable situation - and chances of cure are usually better if the patient is young. He's going to go through a lot to deal with this disease, but I'm sure you and his other friends will be there for him and that will help him a lot.
