We use the 1-10 pain scale on all pts where I work. Many peolple rate their pain a 10. Everyone is different when it comes to pain tolerance. I know I've had a 10....came off a horse at a full run and hit the ground about 6 times before I stopped....ouch. That's been my 10 anyway. I'm sure their are others who have had worse though. |

Well I once got a tattoo that took almost 5 hours to finish. If you've never gotten one you won't know what I mean, but I think that would be about an 8. |

Physically I can take about 7. Mentally 5. Honestly, if I trip and cut my knee, it hurts. But not as much as someone teasing me. Calling me names. You get shut down, hurt inside. Thoughts of killing yourself come into your head. It's a disease we all have : hurt. But you can cope with it, knowing someone else is undergoing so much more pain, and that you are lucky to live and breath. Pain is a matter of degree. It's also how you take it.
If you want real pain don't cut your arm off. Have a fight with a loved one, get called filthy names by a friend. That's hurt my friend. Real, heart-wrenching hurt. |

I would say a 9 I guess...Child birthing is probably a 10 but I got to a 9 i think before I had to have some Demerol...Sunday I fell and had a hair line fracture to my wrist and I swear that hurt more than giving birth I think. By the time I went to the ER I think it was a 7. I have my meds now so it is better. I'm not good with pain. |

I think 5 or 6. I've never had any severe pain though, so I guess I'm not sure. I'm actually terrified of giving birth for this reason. |

How ever much pain is given, we are all capable of taking it. Mind over matter. However, screaming, crying and death could all happen. Especially when giing birth. |
