What's wrong with me! headaches, irritability, dry mouth/thirst, fatigue...?
everyday after school i always have a headache around my eyes..(I have 20/20 vision) . I have been very irritable and i'm not pmsing. my mouth is always dry and sometimes i have an extreme thirst. I don't have to pee a lot.. some days i do but it's not consistent. Most of the time i'm just lazy and tired and don't really feel like doing anything.. and it's not me at all! I'm healthy and fit sixteen year old girl. i'm 5'5 or 5'4 and 113 or so lbs.. I think i've lost a few pounds in the past week though.. what could be wrong? I'm i getting sick with something? My friend is a diabetic and a week or two ago she checked my blood sugar because she thought it might be diabetes too and it was like 130 or 135 or something? It was like 6 hours after eating. she said it was kinda high but I didn't think anything of it.

Although the disease usually starts in people under the age of 20, type 1 diabetes may occur at any age. The disease is relatively uncommon, affecting 1 in 250 Americans. The condition is more common in whites than in blacks and occurs equally in men and women Fasting blood sugar levels should be measured from 6 to 8 hours after eating. The measurement is milligrams of glucose per one-tenth liter (mg/dL) of blood: 70-100 - Normal. 100-125 - Impaired glucose tolerance / borderline. 126 and over for a 2 or 3 day period: Possible diabetes. TYPE I COMMON SIGNS & SYMPTOMS OF TYPE 1 DIABETES Irritability. Frequent urination. Abnormal thirst. Nausea or vomiting. Weakness. Fatigue. Weight loss despite a normal (or even increased) intake of food. Unusual hunger. Have yourself checked by a medical provider for a definitive diagnosis. Good luck.

Yes, 135 or something is kinda high. It would be prudent to have a doctor check for diabetes. At least then you would know. In the meantime I would suggest you supplement with 5,000 IU per day vitamin D3. Research has shown that adequate levels of vitamin D can delay or even prevent diabetes onset. Also avoid all soft drinks, sports drinks, fruit juices and vitamin water.
