well there have been cases of people getting cancer who never smoked, so yes i imagine so

untestable though the test would be highly unethical hehe

easy answer: dont risk it, dont smoke

BaiseMoi
No, you can't die from a smoking related illness if you have smoked for one year. The anti smoking groups and government have over-exaggerated the dangers of smoking. Half of all life long smokers die from smoking related illnesses and the average amount of years lost is 10, even though this is high, anti smoking groups give you the impression every smoker dies.

As far as I know, there has been only one INDEPENDENT study on life expectancy in relation to tobacco smoking and it is a 50 year study published in the British Medical Journal in 2004. It shows that you can smoke 15 cigarettes a day up until the age of 30 and live as long as a life long non smoker. if you quit at age 40 you'll live on average a year less than a life long non smoker, quit by 50, you'll live 4 years less, quit by 60 you'll live 7 years less.

People get cancer who have NEVER smoked!
Smoking contributes considerably, as it is a carcinogen.
We have cancer cells in our bodies. Our immune system destroys them, IF we have a healthy immune system. If our immune system becomes compromised, for whatever reason, it is very difficult to destroy the cancer cells. Both of my grandparents died of cancer and neither one of them EVER smoked. There are many different causes of cancer!

Cancer is additional (and usually hazardous) growth of tissues. Cancers are of different types usually based on the location that they grow... like blood, breast, lunch... etc..

Coming to your question, Smoking fills lungs with undue amount of monoxides that can lead to cancerous growth of tissue. So the blunt answer should be YES, one can get cancer.. however, when you are looking for facts, you have to provide facts to.... Smoking for a year, but at what rate? Daily once, or how many per day...
