Chest so painful it woke me up. -Please help me, hurry.?
My chest is hurting so badly it woke me up. I walked slowly downstairs to get my inhaler, and felt I could barely walk. I'm not wheezing, just experiencing EXTREME pain. I took 2 puffs of my inhaler and still feel too terrible to sleep. (I also feel like throwing up, but don't think my lungs could handle it.) I'm 15, just developed asthma in January. My asthma has been acting up in Cross Country practice all week. It's been terrible, wheezing my way through workouts. Is my chest pain something I need to wake a parent over?

Yes, call a doctor or go to the ER. Even for someone who has asthma, chest pain like that is not normal and indicates that you are either having a severe asthma attack or that you have a bad lung infection such as pneumonia that is interfering with your breathing. Go wake up your parents and see a doctor immediately.

Yes! Wake your parents right now. I'm surprised your doctor did not tell you what to do in the case of a serious asthma attack - it sounds like you're not getting enough oxygen. Friends of mine told me that it they or their children had a serious asthma attack then should call an ambulance because they have equipment (oxygen) that can help. A serious attack will probably need to be monitored in hospital overnight.

Bttrfly
You should get one of your parents. Make yourself a cup of hot tea, the warmth should aliviate your chest and keep taking your inhaler, if it doesnt stop call 911.

Nauriel
If its hurting enough to keep you awake, then yes. I'd wake a parent and suggest they call the doctor.
