What's causing my low-grade fever?
For the past 3 or 4 months I've had a very low grade fever, normally peaking at 99.2 or 99.3. I went to the doctor. Got a blood test, and chest x-ray. He sees nothing wrong. Still, the cause of my fever has not been established. I've been tested for Ebstein-Barr, Mono, and Lyme - all negative. Any ideas? I'm 19 years old, 145 pounds, 5'8''.

Two possibilities: 1. This is pathologic. Most likely cause (after the ones that have already been eliminated) would be thyroid issues. 2. This is not pathologic. Your body just runs that temperature. Because we quote it to a tenth of a degree, people get the impression that 98.6 F is should be your exact temperature, when a variation of a degree or two is completely normal, and not a sign of pathology (disease).
