Can you catch hiv if you accidentally poke your self with a needle in the finger after someone.?

TweetyBird
I'm assuming the rest of your question would have been "if they are HIV infected" or something along those lines. You can fix this omission by adding the information in "Added Details". If a needle has been used on a person who is HIV positive, there is ALWAYS the risk of transmission with an accidental needle stick. No one can say with 100% certainty that transmission will take place. The only thing that can be said with any certainty is that there is a risk. Anyone who has had an accidental needle stick on the job, must wash it immediately and then report it. Employees are tested for a variety of blood-borne diseases, not just HIV. If it's already been established that a patient has a known HIV infection, antiviral treatment for the employee must be started immediately. As I said I'm making an assumption and I could be wrong. I don't know what your question is because it's incomplete.
