How have you controlled your high cholesterol naturally?
My doctor wants me to take medication - however, I had such a bad reaction to lovenstatin that I am still experiencing bad cramping in my torso three years later. So I want to avoid the statins. I have already lost twenty pounds (aiming for another twenty), cut out red meat, eggs and cheese and gotten rid of my car. (So that I'm riding my bike everywhere.) Also eat raw vegetables all day long. Has anything else worked for you? I am a fifty-three year old woman with type two diabetes.

Dawn
I quit eating or drinking high fructose corn syrup and started taking a pharmaceutical grade molecularly distilled Omega-3 DHA supplement 3 times a day. They sell a reasonably priced one on Amazon. I also reduced my highly refined carbohydrates and replaced the calories in them with natural fats found in natural whole foods. Natural fats will lower your triglycerides, small, dense VLDL and raise your good HDL. Good natural fats to accomplish this are organic butter from grass-fed cows, organic whole milk from grass-fed cows, organic full-fat yogurt with live cultures, walnuts (and other nuts), "wild caught" salmon, unrefined Virgin Coconut Oil, pure cold pressed 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil, avocados, hard cheese like Feta and Parmesan, and free-range eggs. These fats are actually healthy for you. The belief that saturated fat leads to coronary artery disease is a myth. Any sugar you eat or any carbohydrate you consume that turns to sugar in your body will increase your bad small, dense VLDL, increase your triglycerides and lower your good HDL. Avoid margarine, shortening, and highly refined polyunsaturated vegetable and seed oils. Also avoid "hydrogenated" or "partially hydrogenated" oils in processed foods like you find in regular peanut butter. Doing this will also help with your diabetes. Try to eat fish at least twice a week. When the skin on your hands start to tingle, you will know you are making great progress. That means you are starting to get some good circulation back into your hands and extremities. Cut back on your grains and replace those with dark green vegetables like spinach, broccoli, brussels sprouts, alfalfa sprouts, kale, cabbage, etc. And be sure to add some real butter to those veggies to absorb all the nutrients they contain. Drink low-sodium vegetable juice. Avoid all artificial cheese and artificial dairy. Avoid all fast food.
