kritika@rogers.com
it sounds like a cyct to me!
i had one surgically removed when i was around your age
but that isnt always the case most go away or brake on there own
dont worry!

SnuffySmith
It could be nothing but something simple. Get the tests done to determine how to treat it. After that then you deal with what it is. Good Luck.

It could be a cyst, which is very common among women. In that case, it might be left alone, or it could be removed.

youre probably going to need to have more tests to be sure

My mass ended up being a cyst the size of a cantaloupe. I ended up having it removed via surgery but it should have popped long before and didn't. Cysts are VERY common in women and should pop internally before they get too large. Some don't and have to be taken out. The ovary can be saved in some cases, but not in others, like mine. A 'mass' could be anything so don't be too nervous. Even if it is cancer, and I AM NOT SAYING IT IS, it is easily removed from that area so don't panic. As long as you catch it early, you will be fine. Wait 'till the doc has a look before you stress. Good luck!!!

More than likely it is a functional cyst, or a chocolate cyst.An ultrasound will give them more information as to whether it is solid, fluid filled or a combination of the two. Ultrasound is a good, non-invasive way for doctors to gather information and make a plan.Often birth control pills are prescribed to prevent future cysts from forming. If it doesn't resolve on its own, he may well remove it by laproscopic surgery.

I think I'd ask for blood work to be done. A CA-125 test will give your doctor a better idea of whether or not the cyst is cancerous(very unlikely unless you have a family history or are post-menopausal) or if it is due to endometriosis.

Ask lots of questions of your medical providers and make sure they explain their recommendations. It is your health.

Call you doctor and say "I'm concerned about what you mean by a 'mass', could you explain what exactly you found?"

There are MANY types of ovarian cysts and tumors, some are benign, some need surgical treatment, and ofcourse some are cancerous. It is important that you find out exactly what is going on with you. Many hear are simply assuming it's a non-cancerous cyst, however, only your doctor know the answer to this. You may need another test or two for the doc to determine exactly what's going on.

I have had surgery for ovarian cysts (mine were due to endometriosis) several times. That type of cyst usually does not pop - and if it did there would be problems.

An ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac. Ovarian cysts are common and not usually cancerous. Small ovarian cysts usually disappear without treatment. Cysts larger than 5 cm may need to be removed surgically.

Ovarian cancer is an ovarian mass made up of cancerous cells. The cancer may have started in the ovary or it may have spread to the ovary from some other part of the body. If it is not discovered and treated promptly, it can be fatal.

Everything will be alright, nothing to worry about =].
