Daughter has an infected toe/toenail from where she stubbed it........QUESTION!?
Ok so on May 9th my daughter stubbed her toe and her toenail came apart at the cuticle. It was bleeding and swollen and bruised. I took her to the doctor the following Monday and they had given her some antibiotics and told me to keep antibiotic ointment on it and soak it 3 times a day in very warm Epsom salt water. I have did all of the above and over the weekend she had gotten it stepped on a few times and it is back to step one. I continue to soak and apply ointment. But it just seems like it is swollen worse and she says it hurts pretty bad. (It looks painful)! My question is, would it hurt for me to have her to elevate her foot up? I wasn't sure if that would help the swelling go down or not. I have heard of people doing it if they have sprained ankles or swollen feet but wasn't sure if with her having infection if it would be a good idea! Any advice would be great! I plan on making her another appointment if it isn't better by tomorrow after school! Hopefully it is but with the way it looks I'm not sure if it will be or not!!! thanks for reading and any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Sounds like your a great mom. Sure raise it up.

Icing and elevation are two excellent things you can do as long as continue with the regimen that the doctor prescribed.
