Whatever you do, do not stop taking your medication. You can do reiki or any other silly energy healing an alt med practitioner will suggest but do not stop taking conventional treatments. The minute someone who is not your doctor suggests you stop taking medicine, slap him in the face and run as far away as you can. This person is a quack and you're putting your life at risk by believing him.

You have to approach this problem from different angles. Basically keep your medication, remove the emotional background through EFT and balance your energy system and chakras through Reiki. Here is a free Reiki course: http://reiki-energy-healing.com/index PS. Also try to make Tai Chi to harmonize your whole system

Katie
Yes, I have used reiki and have practiced it now for over ten years. I would not however use reiki to treat this condition before you have sought medical advice/treatment from your G.P first. By all means use it to promote and improve your health and wellbeing. Over time, things may improve. Here is a very interesting article about Science and the Human Energy Field. http://www.reiki.org/Download/OschmanReprint2.pdf Energy healing/medicine is a new scientific frontier and it is still in its infancy but progress is being made slowly but surely! Hopefully one day, it will become mainstream and change the way we approach the treatment of ill-health and disease. Best, K.

A thousand times no. Reiki, energy healing and colour therapy are completely scientifically implausible. There is no evidence of any metaphysical life force. Whatever the cause of your DCM, your heart muscle is weakened. The ventricles have dilated because their muscular walls are more weaker than normal. As a result of this, the heart is unable to pump blood as efficiently as it should. For most people, the cause is idiopathic (unknown). Viruses have been implicated, some people have hereditary risk factors. Drugs and excess alcohol can result in dilated cardiomyopathy, as over time these substances cause damage to the cells of the heart. Myocarditis can be caused by various infections and dilated cardiomyopathy can be a rare complication. In very cases vitamin deficiencies can cause DCM, in particular, vitamin B-1 deficiency. (However, this is a very rare cause in the western developed world). DCM can occur in pregnancy and occur as a secondary complication of various other diseases (e.g. muscular dystrophy and systemic lupus erythematosus, etc.) There is no treatment which can reverse the actual damage of the heart muscle. Treatment really aims to manage symptoms and prevent other complications occurring. If you are not symptomatic, treatment often isn't indicated. Complications that can develop are heart failure; drugs can be prescribed to manage this. Drugs can also be prescribed to manage any arrhythmia's you develop as a result. Another complication is blood clots. -If the heart beats irregularly, this increases the risk of blood clot formation. Anticoagulants help in this instance. Cardioversion is sometimes an option for certain types of arrhythmia's. Artificial pacemakers are used in some cases too. Although we can't reverse the problem, prognosis for people with DCM has improved a lot in recent years now that more treatment options are available. Although not having a cure is frustrating, this is no reason to turn to activities that have no plauisble mechanism to work. Caveat Emptor.

They could help. The only question is how. Only you will be able to solve this question. Energy healing can be active in many domains. So you will need to find the treatments that are most fit for you know. In the process you will discover things you need to solve in your life. Then divide your age by 10. That will be the time you need to work on it daily, so be patient. Of course it's not a rule, because it's not a technique, just an art (of knowing yourself). These methods are not so arrogant to call themselves a science.

None of those things are going to do anything to treat cardiomyopathy.
