I have watched weed destroy peoples motivations. My husband used to smoke weed all the time when we first met but I drank a lot so I guess I never noticed a problem. Once I was pregnant and not drinking anymore I began to notice his delayed attitude. I really started to bug me that he seemed to 'slow'. After he quit he was a whole new person ...happy, fun, and motivated. I also had a best friend in high school that smoked all the time (couple times a day) and just recently they found cysts and tumors all throughout her body (I'm sure there is a link). Also I have seen brain scans of a habitual weed smoker and there is almost no activity in some parts of the brain, it's scary. I am not against it I just don't want the people I surround myself with now to be smoking it all the time. You should really start to do your research they are finding more and more negative effects of it all the time. |

Weed can course you to become paranoid. It can exacerbate mental health problems. |

It is something that alters your state of mind, weakens your immune system and destroys brain cells regardless of how often you do it.
Thus, those of us that like to live in reality and have long great health, don't like it.
However, to each their own. As long as you are doing it alone, staying in your own home/space, and have private health care...who am I to judge. |

I don't do it, that is my choice.
If people want to smoke it it's their choice, as long as it is not done around children or in the street where people can smell it.
They must realise that it's against the law and that it is their choice to break that law, they must also think about what the proceeds of their purchase is going towards (funding more serious crime?) I know many people who smoke it, most have had bad experience in doing so and it has been enough to put me off. |

I don't think in general smoking weed is bad, it's what it leads some people onto. |

It's a shamanic drug with medicinal properties. Used in that capacity (as part of occasional shamanistic ritual or medicinally), there's nothing wrong with it.
The way it is grown now (genetically modified and forced to develop fast via hydroponics) means that the THC is way higher than it would be if it grew in the wilds. That's where a lot of the problems start with it in terms of cannabis psychosis, etc. with over use of it. |

Its not the worst thing in the world...but it messes with your head. My housemate smokes it all the time when he gets back from work and I dont think I really see him ever go out and do anything else. My other housemate from uni failed his second year coz he was waking up in the morning...smoking a bong and ending up too paranoid to leave the house. Luckily he has grown out of it and has a career ahead of him. I think maybe its ok on the odd occasion..but not all the time! |

The good thing is that it is a short lived high. You get high, it wears off, you can go to work or school the next day with a clear head.
The bad thing is that it is habit forming and that most people use weed as an introduction or gateway to worse drugs. Also, if used too often leads to temporary memory loss, which later results in shorter memory span or lack of interest to remember. Also, many drugs, including weed, are laced with stronger drugs to give the buyer/smoker a dependence on the other ingredients that will cause the buyer/smoker to keep returning for more, this keeps dealers paid.
I don't think that weed on a daily basis is a good/constructive thing. Use of such a drug on occasion (like alcohol) would be fine.
It is my opinion that weed is less threatening to the body and to society than alcohol. You may read in the newspapers that two people or even a group of people had a drunken fall out or even a bashing or killing, but you never read these stories about people smoking weed. Weed smokers are too lazy/physicall drained to create acts of violence or disturbance. But weed can be just as damaging to the brain as any other drug or alcohol if overused. |

I think alcohol is worse but if you can maintain a life, job, friends, family, etc. and choose to do it on your own time, thats your business. I don't think people should smoke at certain times, like while on the job, etc.
I used to smoke but I don't anymore but to each there own. |

it smells really good like really really good, i will market weed smelling candles |

Thats not right!

I used to smoke every day since 1976, but gave it up about 10 years ago, nothing wrong with it, alcohol does way more damage but it does slow down the ability to succeed in life. |

Pot smoking is a better nerve tonic than most of the fad drugs psychiatrist's are prescribing and have far less side effects. But still you can build up a psychological dependency on the plant. If you do then stop using it for awhile. Pot also is toxic but so are most of the medications the medical world uses. |

I'm not against it, I don't think using it everyday is gonna do you some good though. Try using it less like once every two or three weeks... |

I think it is ok but not as a everyday thing, it can cause psychosis and paranoia and although it is not really really addictive you can get really attached to it and come to rely on it for relaxing etc. |

Treat it like alcohol and it's fine.
i.e. don't go to work stoned. Don't drive stoned. Don't throw it down your neck all the time.
You wouldn't wake up and immediately have a vodka unless you have a problem so don't do the same with weed.
Occasional use is fine. Otherwise, lay off. |

In moderation in can be beneficial. I've smoked it sometimes, it hasn't harmed me, it hasn't made me paranoid, and it certainly didn't lead me to hard drugs. Some people take harder drugs as it's in their lifestyle choices to do so. I don't believe weed harms people psychologically, but that's only my experience, I haven't spent a fortune on a scientific test or anything! (Yes, I'm being sarcastic). |

Frankly Speaking

The comparison with weed and alcohol is ridiculous, as alcohol is a known poison and weed is not.
As with anything taken to excess, it has it's downside.
Depression, mood swings and over eating are known documented effects of withdrawal from this substance.
In many cases it does seem to cause diminished motivation, however in other cases it has been shown to increase inspiration and the ability to achieve certain abstract thoughts that may in fact be beneficial to not only artistic creativity, but other areas wher abstract thought may in fact benefit society at large.
For myself personally, I found that weed can be used in acceleration of the internal healing process (nerve and bone damage).
I think there is a definite stigma attached to it because of government propaganda which has been substantiated by government paid (loans & grants for testing are included in this) scientists and doctors.
If weed was actually such a debilitaing and negative ddrug, then why does the government have acres of the crop grown every year?
The fact is that the goverment CAN NOT control this subtance. However, its seems that a great many marijuana smokers can also not control their use of it as well.
I think there are great potentials in this plant that are as yet either unknown, or simply being hiden in order to re-inforce the negativty tied to it.
In the state of Washington, a conservative state (primarily), marajuana possesion (under a certain amount) has been voted by the people the most low priority crime.
And for those who would declare its use an "immorality" the "Holy book" is very clear on its use;
"I give thee all the Herbs and plants that do bear seed, for ye they shall be as meat"
I think its dependent on the individual who uses it and how they function and react to its use.
Personally, I dont feel its something to be used socially. I think the benefits to the user come more fom isolation and inner reflection. The ability to be in control over this or any subtance you use is most important. That which has control over you, is most certainly not to one's benfit, if that control does not produce beneficial results. |
