What is dandruff? And why dies it make your head itch?
I try shampoo, but it really doesn't help. Any ideas on how to solve some of the itchiness?

Buy a shampoo called Sulpher-8 Shampoo. It is usually in the dandruff shampoo section or the african american hair care items. It is safe and effective on al hair...regardless of race. Use it every 3 days. Dandruff can be caused when your scalp is too dry or too oily. Lots of factors contribute to this.....weather, medications, shampooing too much/too little, hair care products (gels, harispray, etc) I discovered how well Sulpher-8 works over 20 years ago when my dad was undergoing cancer treatments and taking medications....they caused his scalp to be very dry and flaky....I started using Sulpher 8 shampoo on his hair and with in 2 weeks....his dry skin/dandruff was gone. They now make Sulfur 8 Aqua Blue Medicated Dandruff Shampoo But I can only find it on Amazon.com it costs $10.79 (free shipping) http://www.amazon.com/Sulfur-Aqua-Medicated-Dandruff-Shampoo/dp/B001R2254O/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=beauty&qid=1292644677&sr=8-4

qhen your skin is dry like in the winter, you gets itchy, so you scratch it right?.. and then the dry, (dead skin cells) flake and fall off. Same thing with your scalp. Try not washing your hair EVERY SINGLE DAY! (if you do) that is the main reason for dandrift. drying out the skin. and try a light hair moisturizer. i recommend trying carols daughter moisturizer butter, or that wen stuff. either can be found on sephora.com

I used to get dry scalp and I think it was from the shampoo and like curl crap I put in there after I showered. But I bought head and shoulders and used it every day for like 2 weeks, went away no problem. Go see a dermatologist, and they'll have better suggestions. I've also heard that dandruff is green, and that it's different from dry scalp, where your skin flakes. Either way, people call both dandruff. I've also heard that depriving yourself of nutrients with an unhealthy diet can cause it.
