Whistling noise when I breathe through the nose at night?
I've had a pretty runny nose lately, and I've been blowing it constantly. So blowing my nose is not the answer. I've been thinking I might have a deviated septum but I'm not sure. Well anyway, I try to sleep and breathe through my (freshly blown) nose, and a horrible whistling noise keeps coming from my left nostril. I also have to breathe harder and the air comes in slower than usual. And for some reason I can't ever really breathe through both of the nostrils at the same time when I try to sleep. The noise is making me hysterical-I can't stand it-and breathing is pretty taxing for me. I hate breathing through my mouth because I think I'll slobber all over the pillow. Does anyone know how I can solve these problems?

Buy nasal strips from chemist to keep your nostrils flared at night. The footballers use them to help their breathing.

All i can say is GO TO THE DOCTOR! Sometimes those things require an operation to be fixed! And their not always so minor. I also have breathing problems and nose problems. But the doctor requested an x-ray as soon as i told her what i felt! Just go to the doctor. Your health is the most important thing in the world! And without it...what do you really have? BTW: if it is a deviated septum that can only be fixed with an operation. I hope you have insurance!

Yes there is a restriction there somewhere . i have had a small amount of whistly noises at times too ,, but not all that frequently . Just suggest you get it checked out , Whether it is just a nuisance or more .
