Albuterol packet in humidifier? I lost the breathing machine..?
I lost my breathing machine for asthma in a move. I still have the albuterol packets and my asthma is really bad! Can I pour the packet of albuterol in my humidifier? Thanks! It won't hurt me will it? I have to wait a 3 hours to get another inhaler, and probably a week for another nebulizer. And maybe this will help me?? Thanks, I have a cold and a hot humidifier. I'll try it in the cold one. I have Kaiser, and I have to get a hold of the dr. that prescribed to me last time, and then Apria health care delivers it to me. Took awhile last time, hopefully I don't have to do another dr. apt.

Don't waste your time putting it in the humidifier no matter if it is cold or hot. The "breathing machine" or small volume nebulizers are highly ineffective to begin with. You are only receiving about 9% of your medication. Placing the medication in the humidifier would be a waste of medication and your time. Get your MDI and a spacer and you will receive 11-13% of your medication. Only a two percent overall change seems insignificant, but it is a 31% increase from the SVN (small volume nebulizer). Wait the three hours to get your Inhaler (but it shouldn't take that much time). If you have to, go tot the ER or Urgent care and you can get a few treatments with a SVN (although this should be unneeded if you have your MDI and spacer, don't forget the spacer) or even better get them to give you a MDI and Spacer.

Is that humidifier cold or hot? If it's cold than it's a nebulizer. So I'd say yes but it would be so diluted as to make it all but ineffective.Still use your humidifier and use the inhaler for any SOB(shortness of breath). If that doesn't help get to an ER. They'll take care of it. It takes a week to get a nebulizer? Where do you live, Mongolia?Even there I could get it to you faster. God bless you and help you through this difficult time.

Mary
no. It needs to be nebulized. Call you doc and get another one or an inhaler.
