dont listen to that other person, its much more complicated then that. first you have to put the cuff on snugly on your upper arm.. where the pump is coming out of should be lying on your brachial artery...use your stethoscope to hear the brachial artery and beging to pump the cuff up... if your normal bp is 120/80, pump it up to 150, or more depending on where you are.. let the air out very slowly. this is th tricky part, while letting it out slowly, look at your dial with all the numbers on it, when you START to hear a consistent beating that will be your top number, the LAST bump you hear will be your bottom...good luck it takes some practice |
