Does marijuana help with lupus pain?
I was recently diagnosed with lupus and at first it just started with me having a bunch of weird rashes and I went to the dermatologist and she treated the rashes with creams which were successful. I then went to see a rheumatologist and at the time i wasnt having any pain so he prescribed a drug called "plaquenil" for me to take twice a day. Needless to say, i looked up the side effects and threw it in the trash. NOW, i have been experiencing pain in my lower legs (from the knees down) and the pain is undescribable. Like a burning and aching pain in my bones. It hurts to even touch them sometimes. I dont want to result to pain killers because I am afraid of becoming addicted to them. I heard that marijuana helps alleviate some of the pain and i was wondering if anyone else knows the truth.

Marijuana will most likely help with the pain, though people have different reactions to marijuana. What the marijuana does is change your perception of the pain and help with an overall sense of well being and calmness. It is very effective with many people.

Marijuana doesn't do much to stop pain caused by inflammation, but it sometimes changes the psychological reaction to the pain enough that you might not notice it as much. Combined with a prescription or over-the-counter NSAID, you might get very effective pain control. It might be a good idea to call your doc to let them know the plaquenil was ineffective, and ask to try some other treatment approach. Maybe you are in a state where medical marijuana can be prescribed, but this isn't necessarily the best pain approach. There are all sorts of options, and finding an ideal treatment is trial and error. Its also beneficial to stop a flare up if possible, which is what Plaquenil is supposed to do. You might consider getting a large but brief blast of prednisone to see if you can knock this into remission.

The pain associated with fibromyalgia is described as a constant dull ache, typically arising from muscles. Patients also suffer with fatigue and can have associated sleep disorders. Patients with fibromyalgia often have other co-existing medical problems, such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Lupus, Depression, IBS, PTSD, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Fibromyalgia isn’t progressive and generally doesn’t lead to other conditions or diseases. But patients suffer greatly with pain and this can lead to anxiety, depression and lack of sleep. These problems can then interfere with the ability to function at home or on the job, and maintaining close family or personal relationships can become difficult. Patients often end up on many medications with adverse side effects and become even more frustrated and unhappy. Medical marijuana is being used by many patients for pain relief, improvement of mood, less anxiety, and especially for better sleep. Marijuana is known to help with many of the symptoms of fibromyalgia without the adverse side effects of the strong pharmaceutical medications normally prescribed for this condition. Many patients state that just the sustained restful sleep that can be had on a regular basis helps tremendously with the pain, frustration, and anxiety associated with fibromyalgia. Since marijuana is generally known to be safe and has minimal toxic side effects (especially if taken with a vaporizer, edibles or tinctures), fibromyalgia sufferers find that its use has at least some benefit to help them get through daily life with this difficult condition.

Google "vitamin D pain relief". I had terrible pain in my legs, from peripheral neuropathy. I also refused drugs for the pain. I learned about vitamin D. I took 50,000 IU per day D3 for three days and then 10,000 IU per day. The pain was gone within a week. If you are concerned with the dose, google "vitamin D 600,000 IU". Kids are being treated with injections of 600,000 IU. "Conclusions: A single oral dose of 600,000 IU of cholecalciferol rapidly enhances 25(OH)D and reduces PTH in young people with vitamin D deficiency. PMID: 20660032" I know you were diagnosed with lupus. But sometimes they get it wrong. Do you drink diet drinks or eat low fat or no fat foods? "One of these symptoms is Lupus, which has become almost as rampant as Multiple Sclerosis, especially with Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi drinkers." "When someone develops Lupus as a result of using Aspartame, they usually do not know that the Aspartame is the culprit. They then continue to use Aspartame, which aggravates the Lupus to such a degree that it sometimes becomes life threatening." "When people finally get off the Aspartame, the severity of the Lupus decreases."

Marijuana helps with nearly every body ache. except headaches. I would give it a try. Much better then almost every prescription pain killer on the market.

Marijuana helps every pain.
