- Resting heart rate varies between 60-100. (While sleeping 40-80) and is known as Normal Sinus Rhythm. - Exercise, fear, excitement etc. rate varies between 100-160, and is known as Sinus Tachycardia. - Heart rate under 60 (while awake) is known as Sinus Bradycardia and is considered as a condition which needs treatment. In your case, you have continous tachycardia, so that means you might have some of these rhythms: - Atrial fibrillation, the atrias quiver and the ventricles contract unstably. - Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia, the normal pacemaker of the heart fires over 100 whole the time. - Sinus Tachycardia stimulated by drugs, caffeine or other possible outer stimulators. - POTS, a syndrome which causes dysautonomia: random increase in the heart rate (especially when moving from a place to another) There're a lot of other causes. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrhythmia for more details. You should see a cardiologist, cause if it's atrial fibrillation which has lasted for more than 48 hours, the risk of a heart attack increases by 30% and you might also get a brain stroke.

No. It should be less than 80 bpm. Mild exercise = 100. Moderate exercise = 120. Strenuous exercise = 140 to 160 -- tops!
