I'm writing a fantasy story and one of the races in it wear blindfolds from birth. Theoretically, what effect would this have on vision-- if any. Would it make you blind, or at least decrease your vision? |

Because it's FANTASY, you can have the affects of this method of raising their young, to be pretty much anything you like, since they are another race and not earth humans. So theoretically it may increase their other senses or mental abilities that cause/create a different way of seeing. And the more they rely on their eyes for sight, the less effective the special ability becomes over time.
The thing is, either some of their race is allowed to "see" with their eyes, to be able to properly blindfold the babies at birth, or they work with another race that helps keep their special abilities intact, by doing the favor for them at birth. |
