i got my ingrown toenails removed last friday.
for the first two days i did everything they told me to do. soak it in a Solution (i don't remember what it was) and put hydrogen peroxide on it then wrap it in a baindaid.
well, it got infected. because i didn't do it for more than a couple days.
what can i do to make sure the infection goes away and it heals properly?
im already taking antibiotics. should i soak it in salt water 2wice a day and then add hydrogen peroxide on it?
Dear Hipppie Chick:
You didn't soak long enough.
I tell all of my patients they need to soak for a minimum of one week.
Chances are the dead nail material has plugged up the nail border.
Either call your doctor, or, if you can stomach it, dip a Q-tip in peroxide and gently insert the q-tip into the border and clear out the debris.
This will allow the drainage material to release, and your redness and irritation should markedly dissipate.
Here is some more info about ingrown toenails.
this happened to me. it seems not matter what i doto itr how many times i see the doctor, it still get infected.
call your dr. if you don't you will have problems with it as i have. for the last 22yrs. it still is very tender and there are certain shoes i can not wear. CALL YOUR DR.
