Tendon across left axilla?
For about six months, I have been noticing a tendon that stretches from under my left bicep (near the elbow), across my armpit, and underneath my pectoral muscle. It is generally not visible except when flexing or exerting the the bicep and the pectoral, when it pops out of the armpit about 1.25". While bench pressing it can exert pressure on the pectoral which can be uncomfortable. This tendon is not visible on my right hand side. Any Ideas what this tendon is? Is there anything I can do about it? Thanks. It did not pop out prior to six months ago.

The only muscles that forms part of the axillary wall that extends into the distal part of the upper arm is the choracobrachialis and part of the biceps. The rest of them are pretty local to the shoulder or extend to the back. Why this is appearing on one side versus the other is quite curious...best guess would be that you have some restrictions of fascia of the floor of the axilla (these are tissues that surround muscles)...this may cause undue pain and pressure in areas of the axilla when you use this muscle. It may be worth your while to follow up with an orthopedist...some physical therapy or massage therapy may be in order if it's due to myofasical restrictions.

Sounds like a biceps tendon strain. If it is really bulging out that much, you may have a slight tear, but if it's not too painful with activity then it's probably just strained. Give it a few days rest, ice, anti-inflammatory meds (advil, motrin). If it's still doing it and is painful, you may need to see an orthopedic physician.
