my blood preasure is 143 over 103 should I go to a hospital or just normal high?

Normal resiting blood pressure is 120 systolic over 80 diastolic. A reading of 143/103 is definitely high. No single reading of blood pressure is sufficient to give a diagnosis of high blood pressure. This is because your blood pressure will vary throughout the day and even from minute to minute. It depends on your state of mind and level of activity. Of course a single reading of...lets say .... 170/110 would be much too high and should require immediate treatment. Note that I said 'resting' blood pressure. What this means is you should be seated, at rest for at least 7 to 10 minutes, not excited or anxious. You upper arm should be at the same level as your heart. If you have your own monitor, take your blood pressure several times during the day such as early morning, mid morning, noon, mid-afternoon, before the evening meal and about an hour before bedtime. Throw out the highest and lowest readings and average the rest. This will give you a much more meaningful result. The single reading you obtained, while a reason for concern but is not an immediate medical emergency. You should make an appointment with your doctor for a possible blood pressure problem. While you are there the doctor may wish to take your blood pressure 2 or 3 times. Many people experience "white coat anxiety" that results in an elevated high blood pressure. So more than one reading will give a more significant result.

You should make an appointment with your doctor. Normal blood pressure should be below 120/80, blood pressure between 120/80 and 139/89 is called "pre-hypertension", and a blood pressure of 140/90 or above is considered high blood pressure, or "hypertension".

that is a tad high
when taking blood pressure you should be rested for at least 5 min and not have eaten anything for a half an hour
cut your salt intake and exersize

and ask your doctor about Nadolol 20mg it is a beta blocker. no side effects
it keeps your bp under 120/80

that is high, an not healthy, but I don't think it's critically high, but you should call the doctor tomorrow and get a treatment. don't delay longer than that.

You should recheck it. Thats a weird blood pressure. If you still get a high pressure then you should go to the ER if you have a headache or trouble breathing.
