I'm 11 years old, and i was making a milkshake earlier and when i was cleaning up i washed my hands thinking i was done. Then with my hands slightly damp i unplugged the milkshake thing. I then felt a slight shock in my thumb. The somewhat numbness in my thumb disappeared. But as i took a shower i saw my heart beating 'through my chest'
Is this normal? Am i ok? What should i do? Should i relax?
I tend to panic w/ small things like this..
This is perfectly normal, especially if you are on the thin side. The heart is located close to the chest wall and the pulsations of the heart can be seen in some healthy people. Just relax and enjoy being 11.
It is almost normal for anyone (normally a man) who is thin around the chest to see the heart beat. When you think about it, and look at your chest you will become even more aware. Because you are aware of it you will probably think about it even more and become quite anxious, which will in turn increase the speed of your heart. You may even link muscular pain in your back / chest to your heart - which it is not.
If you can see your heart beat then you will likely have very little fat around your heart - which is a good thing.
Having said that, I advise you to see your GP. In case it is necessary, he would refer you to right consultant.
