Heart bothering me, what is wrong?
I've been on medication for high blood pressure for the past 4 years but have been unable to take it for the past 9 months due to the fact I lost my health insurance and am unable to afford the medication. For the last 3 months, I have been experiencing a lot of palpitations and some episodes of a racing heartbeat. I also get times when my chest aches and I get lightheaded. I woke up in the middle of the night a few days ago feeling nauseated. I got up to go to the bathroom and my heart started beating really weird, almost like a slow pounding feeling. My chest hurt, really hurt, and I felt like I couldn't breathe. I ended up throwing up, and my heart starting racing so fast I couldn't really tell it was beating just felt like a vibration feeling and my chest was still aching very badly. I was so lightheaded I couldn't get up. I wanted to get to the phone and call for help but the phone was across the house and I couldn't get to it. I live alone. Not sure if I passed out or just ended up falling alseep, but woke up three hours later still on the floor, my heart was still beating fast but no where as fast as it was. I made my way back to bed, checked my blood pressure which was 174/111, my pulse was 128 and the irregular heartbeat symbol came up. I fell asleep for a few more hours and woke up with my bp 140/98 and a pulse of 86 and regular. I felt very weak all day and spent the day in bed sleeping most of it. I only get one day off a week and it was that day. Been feeling ok after that day, just very tired and been more lightheaded than usual. I have been checking my blood pressure twice a day like I always have and its been about where it usually is 135/85 but my pulse has dropped, it was around 80 and regular, and now is around 65 and the irregular heartbeat symbol keeps coming up. I have every intention of going to the doctor, but can't for at least a week due to not having the money to do it, but I'm very scared at this point. I am a 33 year old female, seldomly drinks alcohol, smokes at most half a pack a day. What is wrong??

first of all, you need to quit smoking. smoking puts SO MUCH poison into your heart its not even funny. plus, nicotine itself raises the heartrate dangerously. smoking was the number one cause of my high blood pressure. it got so bad i forced myself to quit and the numbers soon went down. also make sure you are getting enough magnesium. this is the most important mineral you need the top 2 symptoms of a deficiency is heart palpitations and angina...its also why most patients come out of the cardiologists office with a clean bill of heart health, left more confused...because ecg's dont pick up mineral deficiencies.

Is there a free clinic near you? I wouldn't wait any longer to see someone. Call 1-888-477-2669 for free or nearly free prescriptions. google free prescriptions, there are several sites that might be able to help you.http://www.pparx.org/

I would def go to the doc for this sounds like your blood pressure is high and your heart rate is that of a person that is running or walking fast. I would go to the doc. as soon as you can. I would lay off the caffeine and alcohol and maybe cut back on smoking for now until you can get there try to eat really healthy and drink lots a water maybe you could talk to a pharmacist about something over the counter that might help until you can get to a doc.Hope they get if figured out.
