 I need to lose 60lbs in one year to join the airforce. Any tips that would help me shed the weight?

my diet says yes to protein powder mixed in a blender with fruit and water and ice before a workout, but only whey protein. Supposedly whey is for lean muscles, and soy is for bulking up.

A couple things to know when taking any protein supplement in conjunction with a workout program. Always take your supplement after your workout, not before. Always make sure your supplement is low sugar/carb. Its a myth that you need massive carbs after a workout, especially weight lifting. The human growth hormone is secreted during and after a vigorous exercise routine, especially after any tearing of the muscles while lifting. This hormone is going to be what does the actual healing of those microscopic tears. When consuming alot of sugar/carbs after a vigorous workout, the HGH is stopped in its tracks. Sugar is a direct inhibitor of the HGH. This is also true before bedtime. Never consume thru drink or food alot of carbs/sugars before bed. The HGH is only secreted under special conditions in the body, and trust me, you want it to be. During stage 3 and 4 sleep, your body secretes HGH. This is meant to keep us young and heal as we sleep. Sugar/carbs before bedtime directly inhibit it. Keep any snacks , food or drink before bedtime on a low sugar basis. Good luck

there are no negative effects. you should consume protein before a weightlifting session & within 20 or so minutes afterwards as well. this will help supply your body not just with the protein but also BCAA's and other essential muscle-building elements.
