what is the difference between and endocrinologist and a nephrologist?

tangilize77
Endocrinologists specifically work with the endocrine system, which is the hormones and glands (insulin is a hormone produced in glands) the nephrologist is a kidney specialist. If you are diabetic - I would recommend having one of each. I do and they have been a great blessing! It's nice to have someone who specializes in such intricate parts of your body.

both specialities are under internal medicines. If you have problems with you endocrine glands or if you have diabetes, you have to see an endocrinologist. Nephrologist, on the other hand, treat patients who has acute, chronic and end-stage renal or kidney disease (this does not include problems with the bladder or kidney stones. this is managed by another specialized doctor called urologist). Nephrologist can also manage patients with diabetes and hypertension which are the leading causes of kidney disease.

Yes, endocrinologists treat anything related to hormones and the organs that produce them, like the pancreas, the thyroid, the adrenal glands, etc, etc. The nephrologists treat anything related to the kidneys

An endocrinologist is a specially trained doctor. Endocrinologists diagnose diseases that affect your glands. They know how to treat conditions that are often complex and involve many systems within your body. Your primary care doctor refers you to an endocrinologist when you have a problem with your endocrine system. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A nephrologist is a physician who has been trained in the diagnosis and management of kidney disease, by regulating blood pressure, regulating electrolytes, balancing fluids in the body, and administering dialysis. Nephrologists treat many different kidney disorders including acid-base disorders, electrolyte disorders, nephrolithiasis (kidney stones), hypertension (high blood pressure), acute kidney disease and end-stage renal disease. Nephrology is a subspecialty of internal medicine.

going-to-light
endocrinologist is a physician specialized in endocrine gland like thyroid, adrenal gland...etc. treat diseases like diabetes ,cushing syndrome...etc. nephrologist is a physician specialized in kidney problems .
