homeostasis in regulating glucose metabolism?
How does the body maintain homeostasis in regulating glucose metabolism in the body? and what happens if there is too much or too little of each major regulatory hormone(gastrin, secretin, and cholecystokinin)?

john e russo md facm faafp
I would agree with Vladimir that your so-called regulatory hormones are not in fact involved in glucose homeostasis. The brain, the rate of gastric emptying, the alpha cells of the pancreas, the beta cells of the pancreas, incretin mimetics which are secreted by the proximal small intestine, the level of insulin resistance, insulin receptors on cell membranes, age, gender, ethnicity, height, weight, thyroid function, ACTH, adrenal gland function, and growth hormone along with a few other factors play significant roles in glucose homeostasis. If I may be of further assistance please let me know. I wish you the very best of health and in all things may God bless. JR
