If your sugar level is between 4 and 8 it's good, it's obviously on the higher side of the safe levels, and it all depends when you ate and what you ate, might be a good idea to go for a gluclose tolerence test, see your GP....

The only way you will know for sure is to go & see your doctor for a check up. How long between the last you ate or drank anything &the time when you checked your blood sugar? All of these things can make a big difference to the reading. When you regularly check your blood sugar, you tend to become aware of these things, if you don't check regularly try to make sure that you haven't had anything to eat or drink for at least 2 hours & that will give you an idea. The doctor does a test that averages out the previous 3 months which gives you a better idea of how your health is. Hope this helped.Good luck.

No - you are not diabetic yet, but it tends to run in families, so it will be something you have to watch. In its early stages it can be controlled by diet, so you might want to think about asking your GP's surgery to put you in touch with the dietician.

That is safe however there are times that blood sugar rises, like during after meals. You mentioned that some members of your family got diabetes, well you must consider that diabetes could either be acquired or inherit. If you want to be pretty much aware and prepared, you better see a doctor.

Your reading of 7.7 mmol/L is 139 mg/dL. If this is a fasting reading it certainly deserves follow-up readings. A non-diabetic's fasting glucose is typically 3.9 to 5.6 mmol/L. A non-diabetic's 2 hour post-prandial (after meal) glucose typically does not exceed 7.8 mmol/L or 140 mg/dL. Please note that I say typically as there will be some variation from day to day. Based upon this reference range your reading would be elevated for a fasting reading and at the upper limit for a 2 hour post-prandial reading. The diagnosis should never be based upon a single reading. Since this is the weekend I would suggest that you obtain fasting and 2 hour post-prandial readings today, tomorrow, and Monday morning. Call the readings in to your physician's office on Monday. Someone will call you back with further instructions. There are too many limitations to diagnose someone in this forum but your reading certainly needs to be repeated. If I may be of further assistance please let me know. I wish you the very best of health and in all things may God bless.
