Does sugar interfere with thinking?
I've heard that sugar disrupts the thinking processes of the brain. Anyone heard this before or have personal experience with it? I'm referring to language function, memory, general cognition and ability to concentrate. Thanks.

It absolutely affects cognitive ability if it is LOW. Your brain is bathed in fluid containing glucose and when your glucose is low, the brain is being "starved". My husband has very frequent hypoglycemic episodes (4+ per month) and his behavior can vary from acting goofy to full blown convulsions. It is scary to see.

I am type1 diabetic, and I speak from experience with this answer. Once I went hypoglaecemic {lack of sugar} when I was in the town, I had double vision, slurred speech, poor coordination of my limbs and it seemed like my brain wasn't functioning, eventually someone passing recognised my symptoms, realised I was not drunk, and gave me a mars bar and stopped me going into an insulin coma for which I will be eternally greatful. Yes sugar does affect your brain 2little or 2 much.

Sugar just stimulates processes in your body.So sure as hell your body won,t make something to hurt you.Did,t hear someone get stupid after eating a candy..
