A chunk of my back molar tooth just broke off?
I ate cereal and than I went to brush my teeth. I had to spit and out came something that felt like part of a tooth. I opened my mouth and it was all bloody. When it cleared up I saw a hole in the gums where part of my molar fell out. Why did this happen? What will it cost? It's to late now to go to the dentist

Get a root canal. Theyre about $800, $900 ish. You could have weakened it a long time ago and the pressure just cracked it. (Trust me on this one, it's happened to me).

First of all, it may be too late to go to the dentist to restore the tooth, however, you should still go see the dentist. Only he can properly diagnose the cause of the tooth injury. There are many things that can cause teeth to erode/fracture to the point of falling out. Periodontitis, xerostomic disease, medications that effect the oral cavity, caries, etc. Only a trained professional can determine why the tooth broke or fell out, but I would encourage you to visit the dentist, as some conditions, like aggressive periodontitis, can progress rapidly and cause a fair amount of destruction in the oral cavity. As for the cost, your tooth will require either a root canal (~$800, plus the cost of a crown) or an extraction (extraction is less expensive, but you will need to have an implant or bridge to replace the missing tooth, which can be expensive). Hope this helps!

If you have no pain, you probably weakened it long ago and it finally gave. Many things we eat can corrode enamel, like phosphoric acid (sodas).
