My daughter was diagnosed with cancer but she refuses to go through treatment!?
Just yesterday she was diagnosed with brain cancer the doctors scheduled the surgery for this Thursday but she refuses! She says she won't shave her head but if she doesn't she will join her father in heaven! Is there any advice, I've tried talking to her but she is very stubborn about her hair. Should I just ask the doctors to put restrains on her while they shave her head or put her to sleep and do it. I don't know, but what I do know is that she will shave her head. Trust me I don't want her to be bald but she has to for the surgery (the area that the tumor is they have to cut some hair) So its either have a bald SPOT or go bald. I need help!

My Stupid Brain
You should give her pills to make her fall asleep,If she means the world to you and you don't want to lose her then that is the right thing to do.She could wear wigs identical to her old hair.Just like her I was diagnosed with cancer.I took the recommended treatment and my cancer has gone. It's important you act quick because age counts to chances of survival. If she's under 18 then its your call.If she is over it then im afraid she has the final say.I do hope she gets better.
All the best :)

make her or something. if shes a minor, you definately can. if not, tell her the truth: it needs to be done. her hair will eventually grow back anyway

A diagnosis of cancer makes you feel so out of control. Talk to her but give her time to come to terms with this new challenge in her life. I'm speaking from experience cos i was diagnosed with advanced cancer 5 months ago. It's really not about the hair, it's just that everything is changing and she can't stop it from happening. Be there to support her and i will be praying for you guys.

Firstly, my thoughts are with you and your family at this time, I too know what it is like to have had a relative with cancer.

The problem is most definately deeper than her hair. It is very easy to hide how you are feeling to others. So this may mean that she is in some trouble with her emotional state, to an extent where she no longer values her life. This is a very dangerous ind set , so talk to her, show her how important she is to you and everyone else, don't be afraid to show her your pain and worries.

Alarm bells rang when you said that her father is also deceased, for which you also have my empathy. This may suggest the root of her current mind set ?

Also, you say you only found out yesterday , this could mean she is still in shock, leave it as long as you can for her to think it over, which I do appreciate may not be that long. If she is over eighteen , you cannot force her into treatment, however if she is under 18 and you are the legal guardian there are certain steps you can take to have control over her health care.

I hope this helps you and you and your family are in my prayers
Good Luck xx

If your daughter is a minor, she will have the surgery if you say so because you are the parent. If she is an adult, she needs to really think this over because she is acting completely irrational. Its hard to imagine that she would pick her stupid hair over her life.
Hard to say much without knowing her age.

ADDITION.....Now knowing her age changes things entirely. You are the parent, she is a minor, and she shouldn't even get a choice if she wants the surgery or not. I can't believe you would even entertain the idea of letting her make the decision. Its your job to try and save your child. The hell with her hair! Get her into some counseling also to help her, but you need to make the decision for this.
