how long will it take until my allergic reaction goes away? pls help!?
i had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic cephalexin, and it shows up in the form of a rash. its on my chest, face and forearms. its red and bumpy, and itches. i took benadryl for a couple days , and it went away. now, its back , and i started taking benadryl for this rash, but it got recalled so i stopped. i have a horrible stomachache from the recalled benadryl(and tylenol, i took that too) and i dont want to take the store brand benadryl, because of my stomachache. im not having any trouble breathing. how long will it take for my rash to go away, if i dont take benadryl?

Thats what I am going thru...red tiny bumps with itch all over the body...sup, cheer up! u r not alone :) I am told to take benadryl too, and I didnt know that it was on recall, but when I checked it online the ones wch are recalled have a different lot no. and a different bar code...so I guess I am safe...I am going to continue taking that! you can go to this website: http://www.mcneilproductrecall.com/page.jhtml?id=/include/news_june.inc and compare the bar code # and the lot no. and see if you have the recalled ones or not. If not, I would suggest to take them and DO CALL your doctor too...as I am going to see him today just so he knows what kinda thing is going on with me....and I have read that it takes 3 days for this thing to go away :( I am hoping for the same :( I am in a bad situation here as I am breastfeeding and taking care of an 11 month old mess maker :) and feeling drowsy will just make things worse :( Anyways, hope u and me get well soon!! PS. Do update in your medical records that you are allergic to cephalexin! and NEVER take it EVER again! Take care, and get well soon :)

I really can't answer your question, because I don't know the answer to it... But I would like to share my story... I've had migraines, not headaches, for the longest... I used to take Topomax to prevent them... well, anyway it really worked. I took this for several months back in late 08 and quit in early 09. A couple months down the road, my migraines came back... only it wasn't migraines anymore... It was a headache.... a major headache every day! It was hell... so anyway, the doctor (a different one) put me back on Topomax, because I explained that I once too it and it worked. I was prescribed it this year in late Jan and took it all the way up until April, I believe... come to find out... I was allergic to it! I had allergic reactions back to back just randomly out the blue. I would still have my headaches which I would take Tylenol or Ibuprofen for... and would welt up and break out in hives so bad.... so bad that it caused my face to become swollen! It was horrible. The doctor told me to stop at once... cold turkey... and banned me from any other medicines for a month. I was prescribed a medrol pack and Zyrtec to rid the Topomax out my system. The medrol pack was good for 1 week and I've been taking zyrtec for about almost 2 months now. No more hives and no more headaches... except for the occasional ones. Question to you though... why were you taking benadryl? It only helps inflammation... How long have you had the rash? You need to see your doctor again. Good luck.
